From “Freedom” with Love and Pettiness
We live in the era of the big brother who watches everything you do online, and every time you dare write, post, or release something which stands opposite the mainstream narrative you are reprimanded in various subtle and effective ways. You aren’t allowed to have an opinion opposite the mainstream narrative. At the same time, you live in a free world where democracy, free speech and opinion are supposed to be the identity of such a free world, alas, only to understand that such a free world doesn’t exist other than in the empty words of politicians and the slogans of the worldwide conglomerates.
You aren’t supposed to utter a word opposite the mainstream narrative because automatically you branded anti-Semitic, homophobic, misogynist, and all other terms the mainstream narrative has created and upon which it bases all its arguments and beliefs. Even more tragic is the situation of the foreigner who emigrated to another land for a better future only to realize that he’s always and forever marginalized and considered a second-class citizen by the controlling, dominating Anglo society in which he lives, works, produces and tries to advance himself.
I’ve realized this after 50 years of life in a foreign land. Truly the immigrant always trades the chance for a more financially secure life than the one he left behind in the country he emigrated from with a few dollars more, as the title of the well-known film stated. Alas, one has always to stand for the beliefs one has. Here, in my case, I have noticed that Big Brother watches carefully all I state in my posts in social media and my blogs, which sometimes stand opposite the mainstream narrative. As a result, I’m branded something I don’t know, although I know for a fact my books at Amazon/Kindle suddenly don’t sell any.
I usually sold about 30 copies of my books every month, (sometimes less other times more) and suddenly none of them. Big Brother is watching? Most likely. In fact when I confronted the Amazon/Kindle personnel and questioned whether my site is shadowed, (as the expression is when Big Brother brands you with a term that makes the buyers aware that you have a different opinion than the expected of you) he knew all about it because automatically he said, “no we don’t do this at Kindle”, which meant exactly that they do so. Do I have a way of truly knowing? No. And the big brothers are watching every move one makes these days. It means that freedom comes with caveats, conditions one has to follow or else!!!
ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ ΜΕ ΑΓΑΠΗ ΚΑΙ ΜΙΚΡΟΤΗΤΑ
Ζούμε στην εποχή του μεγάλου αδελφού που παρακολουθεί κάθε κίνηση που κάνουμε και κάθε τι που αναρτούμε στις πλατφόρμες κοινωνικής δικτύωσης ή στους προσωπικούς μας ιστότοπους. Κι αν κανείς τολμήσει να παρουσιάσει κάτι που είναι αντίθετο με τη κοινώς αποδεχούμενη αφήγηση ο τολμών τιμωρείται με διάφορους τρόπους. Ο λογαριασμός του επιδεινώνεται, μπλοκάρεται, γιατί δεν επιτρέπεται να έχεις διαφορετική γνώμη από την κοινώς αποδεχούμενη ακόμα κι αν ζεις στον ελεύθερο κόσμο όπου η δημοκρατία, κι η ελευθερία λόγου θεωρούνται δεδομένα. Κι όμως αυτές οι ελευθερίες υπάρχουν μόνο στις κενές λέξεις που λένε οι πολιτικοί κι οι πολυεθνικές στα σλόγκαν τους. Θα μου πεις υπάρχουν και χειρώτερα. Φυσικά υπάρχουν αλλά αυτό δεν κάνει την κατάσταση για κάποιο λόγο σωστή. Δεν σου επιτρέπεται να έχεις γνώμη αντίθετη με την κοινώς αφηγούμενη ιδεολογία γιατί αμέσως ονομάζεσαι, αντισημιτικός, αντιομοφυλετικός, μισογύνης, κι όλα τα άλλα επίθετα που κοινώς χρησιμοποιούνται τούτο τον καιρό. Όλοι γνωρίζουν πως αυτές οι καταστροφές που συμβαίνουν καθημερνά στη Γάζα είναι γενοκτονία, αλλά αν τολμήσεις και το πεις αμέσως πέφτει πάνω σου η Σπάθα του Δαμοκλή.
Κι αυτό είναι ακόμα πιο φανερό στις περιπτώσεις μεταναστών, όπως εγώ, που αφήσαμε την πατρίδα μας ελπίζοντας για μια καλύτερη ζωή στον ξένο τόπο, για να διαπιστώσουμε, όπως εγώ, πως ο Αγγλόφωνος πάντα μας θεωρεί δεύτερης κατηγορίας ανθρώπους. Κι έτσι μετά από 50 χρόνια στον ξένο τόπο καταλαβαίνω ότι αντάλλαξα την πατρίδα μου για την ελπίδα για μια καλύτερη οικονομικά ζωή, για μερικά δολλάρια, όπως λέει κι ο τίτλος της γνωστής ταινίας.
Έχω προσέξει τελευταία ότι επειδή αναρτώ τη γνώμη μου στους προσωπικούς μου ιστότοπους, γνώμη που στέκεται αντίθετη με τη κοινή γνώμη όπως διατυπώνεται στα ΜΜΕ, οι πωλήσεις των βιβλίων μου στο Amazon/Kindle που συνήθως πουλούσα 30 αντίτυπα κάθε μήνα, ξαφνικά σταμάτησαν εντελώς . Κι μιλάμε για Οκτώβριο και Νοέμβριο που συνήθως οι πωλήσεις ήταν υψηλώτερες λόγω των Χριστουγέννων που άνθρωποι αγόραζαν βιβλιά για να τα δωρήσουν σε φίλους, οι πωλήσεις μου εφέτος έχουν σχεδόν σταματήσει εντελώς. Είναι ίσως για τις αναρτήσεις μου στους ιστότοπους μου; Οπωσδήποτε. Έχω κάποια απόδειξη; ΄Οχι, δεν είναι εύκολο να βρεθεί κάτι τέτοιο την σήμερον ημέρα, κι αυτό είναι το όπλο του μεγάλου αδελφού που καιροφυλακτεί, παρακολουθεί και δρα ανάλογα με τα συμφέροντα του.
