Green Space
Black emotion
inconspicuous
in the restful
emptiness of the void
Thick shade I shall become
said the thicket—
the little bass aimlessly
wandering in the water’s gleam
I shall hide and
let the young toad hop from
leaf to branch and from branch
to underbelly of the twig’s song
when each afternoon
declares the retreat of colors
the benediction of my darkness
turning long before all creatures
run for cover just to spend
their night in harmony
