Tasos Livaditis – Poems, Volume II

Self-Betrayal
He was naked. ey stoned him in the city.
And he le with blood dripping behind him.
“He wants to look defenseless” wise men said.
But when we found him dead, further out
in the fields, we saw on his naked breast the large
painted bird eating his last garment.
