Wheat Ears – Selected Poems

Rustle

Rustle of lemon-tree leaves

as you passed under

flowers shivered

touched by your hair

which stirred the wind

conqueror among them

and I followed

taking of their fragrance

and yours

that challenged

the lemon tree flowers

I couldn’t tell which I loved most

fragrance of your body or

aroma of lemon tree buds
