Yannis Ritsos – Poems, Volume II

There is always a tree

in every small, enclosed yard,

a sunlit, weightless tree

always ready to jump

outside the fence wall.

That way, the trees hug the sun

so the sun can grab onto their branches

and jump inside the yard.
